Bone

The bones in our body have several functions.
They provide structural support and form protective coverings over vital organs. Bones also provide attachment points for muscles, serving as levers to produce movement when the muscles contract. In addition, bones provide a storage area for calcium and phosphorus, and they play a role in the production of blood cells. Bone is a living, dynamic tissue, continually engaged in a growth and reabsorption process (Casteel, 2003; Ruda, 2000a).
