Definition:
Installation of soft plastic tube through the nasopharynx into the stomach client. Plastic tube has a hollow lumen that allows both disposal gastric secretions and fluid intake into the stomach.
Usefulness:
- Allows nutritional support through the gastrointestinal tract.
- Allows evacuation of stomach contents
- Preventing regurgitation and aspiration of gastric contents.
Attention:
- History or nasal sinus problems (infection, obstruction, polyps, etc.)
- Awareness and history of MCI
- Reflex vagal
- Bleeding due to an aggressive procedure
- NG tube into the trachea
- It is expected that the patient had received an adequate explanation about the procedure and purpose of the action.
- Patients who already know in detail everything about the actions of the patient or family will be required to sign informed consent.
